There have been a few developments since a little group of Brackenfield folk started planning the “Picnic on the Green” gettogether for July 2017. Councillor Barry Lewis kindly offered a grant from the Members' Community Leadership Scheme, to help towards costs. We soon realised that in order to accept the grant and to obtain the necessary public liability insurance for the picnic, we would need to become a “constituted association.” We have, therefore established the Brackenfield Village Association with a committee of five people to start things going.
Many villages now have their own websites and they are a great way of sharing information and news, advertising events and businesses, cataloguing local history and linking to other organisations such as churches and Parish Councils, for example. Now that we are starting a Neighbourhood Plan it is really important that we can communicate clearly and easily with as many people as possible, whilst remembering of course, that not everyone is connected to the internet. Councillor Lewis is very supportive and has provided a grant of £465 from the Members' Community Leadership Scheme to pay for technical support to get a website up and running. Richard Smith, from Uxello Website Design is building the website and Martin Philips, who is a member of the Parish Council, is working with Richard to co-ordinate the design and content of the website, which is www.brackenfield.org.
If you have information, pictures or suggestions about what to include please contact Martin at firstname.lastname@example.org There may also be businesses and organisations in and around Brackenfield who would like to be represented on the website and Martin is keen to hear from them. Martin has also launched an embryonic Facebook page: brackenfieldvillage. Do have a look and “like” it to keep in touch.
