Keeping in touch

This is a difficult time for us all. Remember that you can pick up the phone or use email, Facebook or the Brackenfield Neighbourhood Watch WhatsApp Group to keep in touch. WhatsApp members will try to help with bits of shopping etc. (To join contact Christine Edwards (07813 397076, or secretary@brackenfield.org) with your name, mobile phone number and email address) Let’s look out for each other!

Meetings and events postponed

The Heritage Cafe meeting planned for 28th April and the visit to Cascades Garden on 2nd June have now been cancelled. The Village Association AGM has also been postponed and a new date will be published in due course.

The Heritage Cafe meeting scheduled for Tuesday 30th June still stands for the present and it is hoped that the village Picnic and Heritage Trail Launch can go ahead on Sunday 12th July. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Heritage Cafe Meeting postponed

The meeting planned for Tuesday 24th March (with John Taylor on Sutton Scarsdale) has been postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The talk has been re-scheduled for Tuesday 30th June and everyone is welcome. Contact 07813 397076 for further information.

At present, the meeting planned for 28th April (Mike Kelley on Cromford Canal) is still going ahead but we will continue to monitor the situation and this may also have to be postponed in due course. Watch out for news on the website, village notice board and Facebook.

Meanwhile, stay well!

Easter Fair

Christmas 2019 there was a charity fair in Brackenfield - we are pleased to say it was a great success, raising money for Wessington school and cancer research and Brackenfield church. The same organisers have now booked the Brackenfield Church Hall again 15th March 2020 for an Easter fair and this time they are hoping to raise money for "guiding light" a charity safe house in Nepal.

Heritage Cafe 25th February - change of speaker!

The advertised talk about the Chateaux of the Loire has been postponed. Tim Castledine has kindly agreed to return to conclude his tale about the Butterley Company. Even if you missed Tim at the January meeting, this is sure to be an absorbing story about the twilight years of this huge and successful company. All welcome.
