Recent Heritage Cafe

The Heritage Cafe was once again very well attended for Julia Hickey's stimulating talk about the Babington family, the religious and political context leading up to the plots to assassinate Queen Elizabeth 1 and the imprisonment of Mary Queen of Scots at Wingfield Manor. The thirty mile exclusion zone wherever Mary was housed, certainly cramped the style of Bess of Hardwick, who's fourth husband, George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury, was her custodian at times.

The next speaker, on Tuesday 4th June at 1030am, will be Michael Parkin on the Pentrich Revolution.
