The New Year opened with a very interesting talk given by Tim Castledine about the origins of the Butterley Company, the main figures involved in the company's development and some of the extraordinary feats of engineering they undertook, including the construction of the single-span iron roof of grade l listed St Pancras Railway Station. It would be great to have Tim back to explain the company's decline and ultimate closure in 2009.
